In 2011, El Silencio Lodge & Spa,  A blissful retreat of elegant suites and a tranquil spa, steeped in its own cloudforest reserve: luxurious, silent and just over an hour north of San José, was awarded the maximum sustainability rating (5 leaves) by the Costa Rican Tourism Board’s Certification of Sustainable Tourism (Certificado de Sostenibilidad Turistica). El Silencio Lodge & Spa is a unique retreat, built and run by the folks behind Punta Islita, is  ideal for all who seek respite from everyday stress.

 

Designed by one of Costa Rica’s most prominent architects, Ronald Zurcher, El Silencio,  a small collection of plush individual cabins, on a hillside in an isolated mountain setting, provides a seamless natural immersion experience that reflects elements of Costa Rica’s traditional rural farms and countryside homes. Sitting high in a tropical cloud forest, the 16-suite, earth-friendly property straddles two national park systems on a 510-acre swath of land.

 

Accommodations

There are sixteen upscale suites, interspersed in a tiered landscaped layout, and each of these 16 identical rooms is set in a private villa on the hillside above the main reception, offering a perfect view of forest and mountain. All feature premium amenities, private viewing deck with rocking chairs, spa, private nature reserve, library of books and DVDS, free WiFi in the restaurant and TV room, iPod dock, outdoor whirlpool tub, fireplace, viewing deck with rocking chairs, and bath products by Costa Rican line Aromas para el Alma, complimentary daily in-room snacks, outdoor whirlpool tub, electric heaters, and spectacular mountain or river vistas.

 

 

El Silencio Lodge & Spa is an all-Suite hotel, perfect to enjoy Costa Rica’s wonders in full style and comfort. Balconies offer river, mountain, or garden views. All accommodations feature privacy, premium amenities, a viewing deck with rocking chairs, complimentary daily in-room health snacks, an enticing outdoor whirlpool tub, electric heaters, and spectacular mountain or river vistas. Beds come with pillowtop mattresses, Egyptian cotton sheets, down comforters, and down blankets.

 

In addition to normal beds Hypo-allergenic bedding is also available. Top-tier personal care products are selected for both their body nourishing and eco-friendly qualities. Twin sofa beds are included. Bathrooms feature showers, double sinks, bathrobes, and slippers. There is a minibar with each room. To ensure cleanliness, they offer  Daily housekeeping service. In addition to safes, guestrooms offer phones. Also included are coffee/tea makers and windows that open. There are enough blackout drapes/curtains.
