A group of the Conquest a tribe of Indians had established their authority in the region, ruled by the chiefs and Turichiqu\u00ed Abituri. Paraiso is the second Cartago province and has 39,163 voters (1.39% of the national registry).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The canton of Para\u00edso is subdivided into five districts (<em>distritos<\/em>)<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Para\u00edso<\/li>\n<li>Santiago<\/li>\n<li>Orosi<\/li>\n<li>Cach\u00ed<\/li>\n<li>Llanos de Santa Luc\u00eda<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">La Uni\u00f3n<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The name of the third canton in the province of Cartago in Costa Rica is La Uni\u00f3n. It was officially declared by Legislative Decree No. 167 of December 7th of 1848. Though it is the smallest of the eight cantons of Cartigo province, it is the most densely populated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The canton of La Uni\u00f3n is subdivided into eight districts (<em>distritos<\/em>)<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Tres R\u00edos<\/li>\n<li>San Diego<\/li>\n<li>San Juan<\/li>\n<li>San Rafael<\/li>\n<li>Concepci\u00f3n<\/li>\n<li>Dulce Nombre<\/li>\n<li>San Ram\u00f3n<\/li>\n<li>R\u00edo Azul<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Jim\u00e9nez<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first settlers came to the area\u00a0 from Carthage in the first half of the nineteenth century. The name of the canton is a tribute to Don Jes\u00fas Jim\u00e9nez Zamora, former President of the Republic. In Act No. 84 of August 19, 1903, created the canton of Jimenez, as the fourth of the province of Cartago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The canton of Jim\u00e9nez is subdivided into three districts (<em>distritos<\/em>)<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Juan Vi\u00f1as<\/li>\n<li>Tucurrique<\/li>\n<li>Pejibaye<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"firstHeading\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Turrialba<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is one of the largest counties in the country with an approximate area of 1,657 square kilometers, equivalent to about 52% of the total area of the province of Cartago. The city of Turrialba is the cantonal, is at a height of 646 meters above sea level. The territory now occupied by the Turrialba, has been inhabited for millennia by indigenous groups.
